LEICESTER’S National Development League side launch a busy month of away fixtures when they make the long trip north to Armadale on Friday.
The Roger Webster Lion Cubs have already raced Edinburgh’s third-tier outfit at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena and came away with 50-40 win before being held to draws in their next two home outings.
Dave Howard’s team have a change to their riding order with youngster Ben Trigger moving up into the top five and Mickie Simpson dropping to reserve.
The swap has occurred because with Trigger having completed four league matches, his ‘actual’ 3.00 average is deemed to be higher than Simpson’s ‘assessed’ 3.00 figure.
At the top end of the side, the Cubs do have experience of Armadale as skipper Joe Lawlor races for Edinburgh in the Championship, whilst Joe and Dan Thompson finished first and second respectively in the British Youth round which took place there last September.
Howard said: “Armadale have strengthened with the acquisition of Archie Freeman at reserve, and led by Nathan Greaves will certainly be strong opposition on their own track.
“But as always we will be aiming to push the Devils for at least an away point, with Joe Lawlor on his home Championship track and the strong home from shown by Dan and Joe (Thompson) and Tom (Spencer) so far this season.
“For Ben, Mickie and Kai (Ward) it will be another different track experience that will help their development on away tracks as the season progresses.”
With no action at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena this weekend due to England’s Euro 2020 progression, supporters still have an opportunity to watch Leicester in action as live-streaming coverage is available for the match at Armadale.
Via the EMTV section of Edinburgh’s website - www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk/emtv - passes can be booked for £11.95, with live coverage commencing from 7.30pm on Friday.
The service also includes a free preview show on Thursday evening, and the ‘Friday Focus’ review on Saturday morning.
